Letter from the Secretary General
Dear Delegates and Faculty Advisors, I am delighted to invite you to the 35th annual Houston Area Model United Nations Conference. HAMUN is one of the largest and most well known United Nations simulations for high school students in the state. HAMUN XXXV will take place from 4 February and 5 February 2010 at the University of Houston. Our Staff and secretariat have a long-standing commitment to innovation and this year's conference is no exception. HAMUN XXXV will feature a host of innovative elements that will challenge and inspire delegates. Our conference is well suited for beginner delegates as well as those who have been to numerous Model United Nations Conferences. HAMUN is excited to host two Delegate Resource Workshops for those who want to learn the intricacies of positions papers, resolutions and the workings of Parliamentary procedure. HAMUN XXXV is thrilled to present 14 diverse and intellectually stimulating committees of UN bodies. These 14 committees are chaired and directed by students from various universities from all over the state and nation, each with a diverse background and dedication to international relations, will aspire to make sure each delegate has an amazing committee experience. These secretariat members are dedicated to continuing the tradition of exciting and rigorous debate for which HAMUN is well known. Delegates will be challenged by our staff as well as other delegates within an environment that is sure to further develop their rhetorical skills as well as their understanding of international issues and the working of the United Nations. All of the aforementioned features will no doubt make sure that every participant has a wonderful and unique experience during the two-day conference.
