Students
We hope that you had an excellent summer vacation. As your school year begins, I want to share with you all of the changes that HAMUN is undergoing. This year HAMUN will celebrate its 35th anniversary and the gorgeous website will not be the only change! This year will be much more difficult but much more rewarding than any year before.
Over the summer, the secretariat has been working hard on training and implementing new procedure. New procedures in policy papers and resolution writing along with changes to the DRWs and the conference schedule are the backbone of HAMUN XXXV. There will be hard work involved, but I promise every single delegate that it will be a worth while investment.
DRWs are mandatory this year. These will be enforced this year as well as deadlines for policy paper submission, which are stated on the website. (No late policy papers will be accepted and no delegates will be allowed to attend conference who have not submitted and passed their policy paper.) DRWs will also be changed in format to be more interactive and entertaining. They will have time for instruction, mock sessions and end with a quiz bowl in which the top three country delegations will receive prizes! (Yes, I did say prizes and no, they won't be lame.) The questions used for the quiz bowl will cover the new material discussed during the DRW and the website to make sure you have made yourself familiar and are utilizing all of the available resources, like the reinstated "Delegate Cafe" that serves as a forum for you to discuss different topics with your fellow delegates and dais members.
DRWs will also serve as the primary venue for new information and announcements for new awards and prizes this year. There will be incredible prizes this year that you will want to come to DRWs to hear about (and to be eligible for). You do not want to miss hearing about these prizes!
Ultimately, it is my personal goal to bring HAMUN back to the quality conference that it has been years ago. HAMUN XXXV will be more organized, more professional, more work and also more rewarding than any other HAMUN conference before it.
Your dais also shares my dedication to providing a fantastic experience for you. If you have questions about your committee, please feel free to contact your Chair or Director.
If you do not have HAMUN at your school and would like to know more, please send an email to myself at emily@hamun.org.
Welcome back, HAMUNers! Together we will make this the best conference experience yet!
