GA 1: Disarmament

Chairperson(s): General Assembly First

Dear Delegates,

On behalf of the General Assembly Committee on Disarmament and International Security, I am honored to welcome you to HAMUN XXXV. I hope everyone has had a restful summer as we prepare for a very different type of conference this year.

This year, GA1 will be focusing on issues that impact us heavily, such as the use of white phosphorous in recent warfare and the much ignored issue of an inevitable arms race in space between the world's superpowers. Delegates are encouraged to look beyond common viewpoints regarding these topics because these are issues that could significantly affect our futures.

I hope to have a wonderful conference and I welcome any questions or concerns to my email at gafirst@hamun.org . Once Again I welcome you to HAMUN XXXV and I can't wait to meet everyone in February!

Sincerely,

Sikandar A. Khan

A little about me, I've been to the HAMUN conference twice in high school, once representing Saudi Arabia in ECOSOC and the other time Qatar in the Security Council. I've attended conferences in New York, San Antonio, and Los Angeles. I'm a CAP student at the University of Texas at San Antonio and although I have no major yet, I will be majoring in Biology once I make the transition to UT Austin. Besides the educational me, I like to fence, play soccer, and am a proud native New Yorker.
