Hey there Delegates,

 

I am Morgan Champagne and I will be the committee chair this year. I have done my best to come up with interesting topics for this year and they are as follows.Please take the time to familiarize youself with the topics. Remember that Model UN is supposed to be a fun learning experiene so try not to treat this as an assignment. Do your best to challenge yourself, and present an interesting policy statement. I look forward to meeting with you all, and I am confident this year will be the best in a long time. See you at the DRW and the conference!!

I am currently a psychology major at the University of Houston, and graduated from Dulles High School in 2009. While I was there, I was a member of the Speech and Debate team, and also a memeber of Model United Nations my senior year. I plan to pledge AKA next year as well as get involved with many on campus clubs.

What is GA6: Legal?

 

GA 6 is unique in its mandate and large focus on precedent. Still part of the core Gen. Assembly, Legal takes a step back from the segregated nature of the other GAs and generates explicit legal guidelines regarding the entirety of the international apparatus. This committee moves beyond the United Nations goal laid out in article 13 of the UN charter, encouraging the development of international law. Instead, it actively examines conflicting viewpoints of international parties and their native countries and creates evolutionary policies to best deal with the dilemma at hand.
