CSW
Feminization of Poverty
Protection for women who are incarcerated/held in custody
About this Committee
United Nations Commission on the Status of Women was created in 1946. The committee is one of the biggest components in promoting economic, social, and civil equality for women. It is also one of the biggest promoters of women empowerment and gender equality. This year the committee will be looking at the ongoing phenomenon, Feminization of Poverty. Femininization of Poverty has been around for centuries, where female-lead households are becoming more popular but women have no means on income. Protection for Women Incarceration focuses on women in prison and their human rights. Many women’s rights are violated while being incarcerated and not given proper protection. CSW strives to fix the injustices women still face to this day despite the progress made.
