CRISIS INDIVIDUAL: THE CCP AFTER MAO ZEDONG
About this Committee
The Chinese Communist Party (CCP) ushered in a new era for China. Mainland China was ruled by one party, with the pragmatic Mao Zedong definitively at its head. However, the passing of Mao Zedong presented a new problem – who would become China’s leader?
You are all assigned characters with national influence right after Mao’s death on September 9, 1976. Your roles vary greatly, including government officials, party officials, military leaders, minority representatives, and foreign diplomats.
To effectively wield your power, it is critical to understand your history in the CCP and your ideology. Many different factions exist, and alliances are nuanced (and very fragile). Your characters’ ideological leanings are an essential factor and will decide your initial policies.
You will all work together (or against each other) to decide the future of a China without Mao. May the best vision prevail. Good luck!
