About this Committee
INTERPOL was conceived in 1914 when 24 lawyers and policemen sought to create guidelines for more effective global police cooperation. They established the “12 Wishes,” which included the development of an international communication service, methods for identifying criminals based on biological traits, and standardized criminal records. These principles continue to inspire the organization's resolutions today. Since its founding, INTERPOL has held meetings to address various crimes, frequently focusing on the extradition of fugitives involved in murder, theft, and organized crime. While criminal activity has migrated online, INTERPOL has stayed faithful in their goal, maintaining the ideals while modernizing their technology. INTERPOL spends significant time playing an operational role in National Central Bureaus, centering around their biennial Police Training Symposium, which explores new ways to optimize resources and integrate new technology. INTERPOL adaptability remains central to its approach in addressing modern crimes.
