Arab Spring

About this Committee

In December of 2010, a young Tunisian street vendor named Mohamed Bouazizi self-immolates and dies in protest to police harassment. His actions go viral, sparking protests first in Tunisia (The Jasmine Rebellion), before spreading across the Middle East and North Africa during 2010 and 2011. Protesters are calling for an end to authoritarian governments and the establishment of new, democratic governments. Police and military clashes between protesters are proving deadly, with every death and act of violence simply adding fuel to the fire of rebellion. It is up to delegates to decide how to resolve tensions and put the region at peace.
