About this Committee

The Economic and Financial Committee (ECOFIN), founded in 1945, is the Second Committee of the United Nations (UN) General Assembly (GA). ECOFIN focuses on issues related to international economic growth, sustainability, and macroeconomic policies. This committee also addresses related issues such as poverty and food distribution, especially when connected to economic investments and global sustainability. These areas allow ECOFIN to work alongside other committees and organizations, such as UNICEF and ECOSOC, when addressing issues that connect economic development with humanitarian needs.

In modern times, ECOFIN is connected to globalization in a variety of areas, from economic policies to poverty and sustainability, marking its importance within the UN. ECOFIN is not just a financial committee, but rather a body that works alongside other committees and organizations to address global issues that overlap across various fields. This global cooperation to address shared concerns has led to significant impacts, especially in highly affected regions, allowing for continuous and global change. Through economic cooperation, sustainable development, and international policies. ECOFIN continues to play an important role in addressing economic challenges and supporting development around the world.
