About this Committee
The United Nations Office for Outer Space Affairs is a UN committee responsible for issues regarding the enforcement of space law, the installation and utilization of space technologies, the improvement of economically and environmentally sustainable space travel, and more. UNOOSA creates regulations to govern space-related activities and fosters international cooperation between nations, regardless of size or GDP, so that all countries can access the benefits of space technologies and travel. A major issue the committee is currently addressing is the equitable access to space technologies for countries that lack the necessary capabilities. UNOOSA believes that access to space technologies is beneficial to all countries, making this a key mission of the committee. Additionally, the organization works to mitigate the potential negative effects of space exploration on both the environment and global security.
