UNDP
-Mitigating and Reversing Climate Change Damage via Urban Development
- Developing affordable, equitable infrastructure for all in post-disaster regions
About this Committee
Established in 1965, the United Nations Development Program was created to address development from both environmental and humanitarian perspectives. The program focuses on critical issues such as climate change, pollution, loss of biodiversity, land degradation and loss of biodiversity by working with nations to promote sustaibility and climate resilience. On the humanitarian side, the committee targets inequality, poverty, and peace by addressing five key sectors: energy, housing, transportation, education, and health. The UNDP has implemented many strategies to combat climate change, including ecosystem-based adaptation and promoting climate-resilient livelihoods, and also discusses creating equitable and affordable infrastructure in post-disaster regions. The UNDP addresses post-disaster recovery in five phases: prevention, preparedness, response, mitigation, and recovery. Through development and collaboration, the UNDP strives to address the damage done to the world and its inhabitants.
